What is a Reed Diffuser?

A reed diffuser is generally a small, long-necked bottle that’s filled with essential oils.  It can be a ceramic or a glass bottle. It contains long, thin strips called reed sticks – that absorb the oils and diffuse continuous fragrance around the surroundings. They do not need any electricity or tea light candles for diffusion as required by Electric and Candle Diffusers. Reed Diffusers are generally ideal for small locations like Bathrooms, Washrooms, Bedrooms, Office Cabins / Cubicles,  Closets, Dressing Rooms, Study, Den, Yoga Rooms.

How to use a Ceramic Reed Diffuser?

Using a reed diffuser is a simple and convenient way to enjoy continuous fragrance in your home or workspace. Here’s a detailed guide on how to use one, along with some precautions:

1. Choose Your Reed Diffuser: Reed diffusers come in various designs and sizes. Select one that complements your decor and fits the size of the room you want to fragrance.

2. Select Your Reed Sticks: Reed diffusers typically come with a set of reed sticks. Choose the number of sticks to use based on the intensity of fragrance you desire. Using more sticks will result in a stronger scent throw.

3. Prepare the Diffuser Liquid for use with Naturalief essential Oils: Use about 30% of your chosen essential oil with 70% of carrier oil. Sweet Almond Oil and Safflower Oil are the most common carriers oils recommended to be used.

4. Prepare the Diffuser Liquid for use with Naturalief Reed Oils: Instead of preparing your own diffuser liquid, choose from Naturalief’s range of Natural Reed oils. Carefully remove the cap from the bottle of Naturalief reed oil and pour it into the ceramic reed diffuser.

5. Place the Diffuser in Position: Choose a stable surface where you want to place the reed diffuser. Ensure it’s away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as this can cause the liquid to evaporate more quickly.

6. Arrange the Reed Sticks: Insert the reed sticks into the diffuser and carefully arrange them. Spread them out evenly to maximize the surface area exposed to the air.

7. Flip the Reed Sticks: After about 30 minutes, flip the reed sticks to saturate the other end with fragrance oil. This helps to ensure continuous and even diffusion of scent throughout the room.

8. Adjust the Number of Sticks: If you find the fragrance too strong or too subtle, you can adjust the intensity by adding or removing reed sticks. More sticks will result in a stronger scent, while fewer sticks will produce a milder fragrance.

9. Monitor and Rotate: Regularly monitor the level of fragrance oil in the diffuser vessel. If the liquid runs low, simply top it up with more fragrance oil. You can also rotate the reed sticks occasionally to refresh the scent.

Precautions

1. Dilution: Essential oils are highly concentrated and potent. Always dilute them with water before using them in a diffuser.

2. Avoid Contact with Skin and Eyes: Fragrance oils used in reed diffusers are highly concentrated and may cause irritation if they come into contact with skin or eyes. Avoid touching the oil directly and wash your hands thoroughly after handling the reed sticks.

3. Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Reed diffusers contain liquid fragrance solutions that can be harmful if ingested. Keep them out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental ingestion.

4. Protect Surfaces: Place the reed diffuser on a suitable surface to prevent damage from spills or leaks. Some fragrance oils may cause staining or damage to certain materials, so it’s important to protect surfaces with a coaster or tray.

5. Flammable: Reed diffuser liquids are often alcohol-based and flammable. Keep them away from open flames, heat sources, and electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire hazards.

6. Safety: Place the diffuser on a stable surface away from the reach of children and pets to prevent accidental spills or tipping over. Additionally, never leave the diffuser unattended while it’s in operation.
